Scotty

In 1952 Blayney Scott and his wife Almeda started a small company in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, that pioneered the use of plastics in the manufacturing of salmon fishing lures and other marine products.
From humble beginnings, Scott Plastics Ltd. has evolved to produce thousands of products under the Scotty Trademark which are sold into the fishing, marine and outdoor industries worldwide.
In this time, the Scotty trademark has become recognized to mean one thing - product excellence.
The total commitment to quality means customers everywhere can expect reliability and satisfaction from every product that carries the Scotty name.
Through the years, the Scotty name has become synonymous with downriggers, fishing equipment and kayak fishing accessories.
Downriggers were created to allow fishermen to troll their lures or baits at a specific depth, indicated by a depth gauge.
Years of testing and practical use have shown that trolling a bait or lure in the water at the exact depth where the fish are feeding is the best way to catch fish.
The use of downriggers improves both the fishing results and the fun.
The earliest downriggers were very simple in form; they generally consisted of a spool of wire fitted to the boat with a weight hung at the end of the wire. The lure or bait was attached directly to the weight and when a fish hit, the fisherman had to retrieve both the weight and the fish.
Later, sport anglers introduced the idea of attaching the lure to a release clip which, when a fish struck, released the line from the downrigger, thus enabling the angler to fish on the rod alone.
Scotty introduced its first downrigger over 35 years ago and now produces the most comprehensive range of downriggers and accessories in the market.
